January can feel long, but it’s a great time to connect with others. Our timetable of community activities is designed to lift spirits, bring people together and add a little warmth to the winter weeks.
From friendly social groups, to free wellbeing and creative activities for unpaid carers, there’s something for everyone at our vibrant Community Hub in the heart of Stockbridge.
Each week, our
Chatty Café runs on Mondays from 11am–1pm,
offering a relaxed space for anyone who fancies a blether and a cuppa. Tables are set aside specifically for people who want to meet others and enjoy a friendly chat.
Families are also welcome at our
Pop-Up Play Area for Under 5s
, available on
Mondays and Tuesdays from 9am–2pm.
Parents and carers can relax in the café while little ones enjoy safe, fun playtime.
Creative types can join
Craft in the Café on Tuesdays from 12.30–2.30pm.
Bring along your knitting, crochet or current craft project and enjoy good company and conversation — everyone is welcome, and there’s no need to book.
Our
Community Natters group
will be returning soon. These informal discussions around current affairs and community issues usually take place on
Wednesdays from 10–11.30am
, so keep an eye out for updates.
On
Wednesday afternoons
, from
1.45–3pm
,
Games Afternoon
offers a chance to socialise over board games and puzzles, including Scrabble, chess, dominoes, cards and more.
At the weekend, our
Saturday Social
runs from
12.30–3.30pm at the St Bernard’s Club in the LifeCare Centre.
This friendly drop-in offers games, conversation and a free hot lunch and hot drinks, thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.
LifeCare Talks
take place monthly on the
second Friday of each month from 3–5pm.
These talks cover a wide range of topics, from local history to general interest subjects. Donations are welcome.
Why not join us for a
traditional Burns Lunch celebration on Friday the 23rd, 12.30pm – 3pm
. Enjoy Haggis Neeps and Tatties (veggie Haggis Alternative) followed by Cranachan, served with tea/coffee and shortbread! You will be welcomed in by a piper and there will be a formal address to the haggis, as well as a tombola and raffle. Tickets can be purchased
here.
Finally, we offer
a range of free activities for unpaid carers, running on various days and times
. These sessions are accessible and welcoming, and carers are encouraged to bring along the person they care for. Full details are available
here,
or by calling 0131 343 0940. These activities are supported by the Short Breaks Fund.
