This month we mark the conclusion of our 12-month Charity of the Year partnership with Baillie Gifford.
Financial support from Baillie Gifford has helped LifeCare continue delivering free and subsidised services to older people and unpaid carers across Edinburgh at a time of increasing demand.
Colleagues also contributed time and expertise, including undertaking the KiltWalk on behalf of LifeCare, volunteering at many events, supporting website development, advising on social media and fundraising, and assisting with photography, print and the creation of a “What is LifeCare?” film.

This is not the end of the partnership completely. Five brave Baillie Gifford colleagues will take part in the Abseil Challenge for LifeCare in May and there’s still time to
donate for their efforts

Demand continues to rise, driven by an ageing population, increasing dementia rates and high levels of loneliness among older people in Edinburgh.
We’d like to thank the team at Baillie Gifford for their incredible support over the past year.
Philanthropy Manager Juliet at Baillie Gifford said “Working with LifeCare Edinburgh as our Charity of the Year has been a really positive and rewarding experience. The team have been open, friendly, collaborative and thoughtful in their approach, which made it easy to establish a strong and effective partnership.
Alongside our fundraising efforts, our staff have particularly valued the opportunity to get more closely involved with LifeCare through volunteering, skills-sharing, and collaborating with the charity. These experiences have provided a greater insight into the challenges facing older people, and the important work LifeCare is doing to help them.
Claire, Molly and Amy’s enthusiasm has helped make our partnership enjoyable and impactful over the last 12 months. They’ve been proactive, generous with their time, and open to our ideas, joining us for events and being quick to respond if we ever needed anything. This gave us confidence that our funding, time and efforts were being used to greatest effect. We are very proud of our partnership, and to have the opportunity to work alongside a team that is so committed to making a difference to the community they support.”
