We want to give a huge thanks to everyone at the ScottishPower Foundation for generously awarding LifeCare over £70,000 towards our free support activities across the next 12-months. The grant will help us to deliver:
6,000 free
Meals on Wheels
– hot, nutritious and freshly-made in our community kitchen, benefitting approx. 65 local older adults living on a low income
Our Saturday Social warm space providing free hot food and beverages, companionship, activities, signposting (cost-saving and benefits advice) and device charging.
Our calendar of
free Community Activities and Events
including pop-up play, chatty café, board game groups, monthly talks and seasonal events including our Spring and Christmas Fayres and our free annual Summer BBQ – coming up soon!
In total over 3,100 local people living on a low income will be supported to maximise their limited income, will feel less isolated and experience improved connections to their community.
We were delighted to welcome the ScottishPower Foundation team to the LifeCare Hub recently.
Melanie Hill, Executive Officer and Trustee at the ScottishPower Foundation, said: “LifeCare play a crucial role within our society – tackling some of the toughest challenges faced by communities across the country. We’re inspired by volunteers and charity workers doing incredible things in these communities and we can’t wait to see the extraordinary things they achieve this year.”
Over 60% of our Meals on Wheels service is delivered for free for those that need it most, and it truly makes a difference to local older people. Recently a client told us how during the pandemic cooking became difficult for her, and she felt she needed a bit of extra help, she’s gotten to know her regular Meals on Wheels drivers well over the last few years and is always pleased to see them and have a blether.
She said: “I wouldn’t have managed without them. I look forward to them. I can fill in the order form and then just look forward to them coming – sometimes I don’t look at the menu again and just get a nice surprise when they arrive! I know I am going to get regular meals and I enjoy the food. If you’re thinking about signing up to the service definitely do it!”
Thank you to everyone at ScottishPower Foundation!
