LifeCare wins two ScottishPower Foundation Awards

We’re absolutely delighted to have won the Community Engagement Category, and come runner up in the Charity Champion Category, at the 10th anniversary ScottishPower Foundation Awards.

Our Community Cafe, CafeLife, won the Community Engagement Category, for our “Community Care for Everyone” project, which comes with a £10,000 funding boost. This incredible funding will be used to bring new activities to our service users, as they continue to feel the pressure of the cost of living crisis. CafeLife provides a vital space in the local community where people can eat, meet, chat and feel a sense of belonging.

Our much loved volunteer, Ian McRae, also came runner up in the Charity Champion Category, for his support over the last six years with clients who are living with dementia. His efforts have been instrumental in raising awareness for LifeCare, and his warmth and understanding make him a beloved figure amongst clients, staff and volunteers. His award has also come with an additional £5,000, which will be put towards training new volunteers.

LifeCare Edinburgh Chief Executive Sarah van Putten, said:

“We are so grateful to have been honoured with this award and are excited for what this means for our service users. A huge congratulations must also be given to Ian who consistency has gone over and above, impressing us with his commitment, understanding, empathy and support. We send our thanks to the ScottishPower Foundation for its continued support, and we cannot wait to put this funding to use.”
