Tackling malnutrition with Meals on Wheels

11th – 17th of November is UK Malnutrition Awareness Week. In the UK, 1 in 10 over 65s are malnourished or at risk of malnourishment – not eating and drinking enough to maintain their health and wellbeing. Poor health, poor mobility, social isolation and low income contribute to people finding it difficult to have regular, nutritious meals. These issues are often even worse during the winter.

Our Meals on Wheels service aims to support local older people by delivering freshly prepared, hot nutritious meals to them at home. We have recently been working to improve the nutritional value of our meals even further with the help of a registered dietician. Meals are available for free for those on a low income.

By supporting our Winter Warmer Appeal, you can help us tackle malnutrition and keep more local older people warm and well.

Could the service help you or someone you know? Visit our website here, or email enquiries@lifecare-edinburgh.org.uk for more information.
