LifeCare supports calls to establish Older People’s Commissioner

LifeCare has supported a Member’s Bill Consultation, launched by Scottish Labour MSP Colin Smyth, which aims to see a dedicated Commissioner for Older People appointed in Scotland.

A Commissioner for Older People would be a role that is independent of Government, that raises awareness and works to resolve issues that people face in their later life.

Sarah Van Putten, LifeCare Chief Executive said:

“We have added our voice to the call for a Commissioner for Older People as we know the people we support and their carers can face discrimination, and are often stereotyped. We believe this key, independent, role will help to tackle inequality, as well as amplify and champion the voices of older people, resulting in improved awareness, policies and services.”
