Welcome to LifeCare

LifeCare was originally founded in 1941 as
Edinburgh & Leith Old Peoples Welfare Council
(ELOPWC). It was later known as Edinburgh & Leith
Age Concern (ELAC), before changing its name to Life Care
(Edinburgh) Ltd, and is known as LifeCare.

LifeCare supports the independence of older people, helping them to live as normally and independently as possible within their given circumstances.

We do this through our centre-based care services and also through our services in the community, which deliver care and offer companionship. Our client groups are, in the main, the frail elderly and those with dementia. Read more about our care services and what people say about them (Testimonials).

Our community cafe, Cafe Life, opened to the public on Monday, 31st May 2010.    Cafe Life is located in Stockbridge House at 2 Cheyne Street Edinburgh EH4 1JB Tel. 0131 343 0940.  The prices are great, there is lots of space, free WiFi - just come along and plug yourself in!  We are child friendly and fully accessible.   The big plus point is the 'feel good factor' of knowing that every purchase you make in the cafe is helping to support our work with older people and people with dementia in Edinburgh.  

We also have a thriving programme of community activities going on throughout the year, during daytime hours, evenings and at weekends, using our venue, Stockbridge House.  This includes different kinds of dance, theatre, music, yoga, pilates, special events, private functions, and much, much more.   It's a great space for most everything.   

Our aim too is to have more social clubs - these are not care related - to include older people who are ‘well' and ‘fit' and to bring people together for a mutually beneficial, socially or educational experience.
