When did you join LifeCare? 2009
What did you do before? I worked for five years as a psychiatric nurse then in social work for 20 years. This has given me great empathy and understanding when working with older people.
Why did you join LifeCare? I wanted to empower people to make their own decisions and choices.
What does your role involve? Receiving client referrals, managing a team of amazing care workers to provide complete hands-on personal and emotional care, delivered with compassion and enthusiasm, while contributing to people’s physical and emotional wellbeing
What is the best thing about the role? Making a difference to someone’s life, putting a smile on their face.
Why do you stay? To make a difference to people’s lives that are socially isolated and see the transformation when they join and meet new friends

What did you do before? I worked at the EICC for 20 years helping to organise events supporting clients from everywhere in the world
Why did you join LifeCare? LifeCare’s good reputation and good ethos.
What does your role involve? Supporting our clients, organising stimulating and enjoyable activities. Providing a full holistic approach to their care when at the club.
What is the best thing about the role? Seeing people thrive and enjoying themselves. Getting to know and have fun with the clients and my colleagues.
Why do you stay? There is a great work life balance, flexible and understanding approach to work. There is a ethos of empathy.

When did you join LifeCare? 2012
What did you do before? I was a care worker / team leader in a care home. Previously a nurse.
Why did you join LifeCare? I wanted to have more involvement with people and someone I knew described their work with LifeCare as ‘awesome’
What does your role involve? Picking up clients to/from the Dean Club, providing snacks and meals, supporting clients with activities in and out of the club, enabling social stimulation, company and fun! Updating care plans, reviews and training.
What is the best thing about the role?The interactions with clients seeing their smiles and how much they look forward to their day at the club. I work with a fantastic team!
Why do you stay? Job satisfaction and great team who really care and are very supportive.

When did you join LifeCare? 2017
What did you do before? I was a care worker for an agency providing personal care, medication, support with mealtimes.
Why did you join LifeCare? I wanted to be able to spend more time with people and make a difference to their day. I love to make people happy if I can and make a difference. I was a carer before and felt I didn’t have the time to talk to the clients. I enjoy helping people and take time to listen.
What does your role involve? Picking up clients enabling them to attend the club. Providing and serving lunch. Arranging activities and outings. Socialising with clients, having a laugh and making friends drop clients back home when club finished.
What is the best thing about the role? Putting a smile on everyone’s faces. Watching them have a laugh with each other and the banter! Being able to chat with people and find out about them – listening to their stories from the past.
Why do you stay? I enjoy my job here and I am in a very supportive team.
